Always a healer at heart, Melanie was the youngster who brought home and nursed injured animals. From then on she marveled at the age-old comfort of massage and the healing capacity of touch in her own family and others.
She first learned professional massage therapies while working as a Physical Therapy Aide at Brackenridge Hospital, doing burn debridement and other rehabilitative modalities. Then, while attending nursing school, she began studying under Massage Therapists teaching their various methods of therapeutic massage techniques at seminars.
After attending Nursing School in Tennessee, Melanie returned to Texas and continued to work as both a nurse and a masseuse while pursuing a B.S in Psychology from University of Texas and Abilene Christian University. In 1985 Melanie achieved her National Certification for Massage Therapy. Hiring on at Shoal Creek Psychiatric Hospital Of Austin, she was able to utilize her nursing skills, her psychology degree and massage therapy methods to reduce the pain and detox symptoms in patients in her care.
After the birth of her third child, Melanie decided to retire from nursing and in 1988 opened her first, and the first, Massage Therapy office in Dripping Springs. She now has the pleasure of working from a serene and private therapy cottage and invites you to abandon your stresses to her healing hands. |
